What is the Qur'an about?

The Qur'an,  the final revelation of God is the primary source of every Muslim's faith and practice.  It deals with all subjects which concern us as human beings; wisdom, doctrine, worship, and law, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. It is God speaking to, advising, warning, and instructing His creations on the purpose of life and how best to live it.

In the Name of God,  The Most Merciful,
  The Most Compassionate

Hardship

“Have we not expanded for thee thy chest? And removed from thee thy burden
That which did gall thy back?-
And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?
So, verily, with every difficulty there is relief:
Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.
Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task) still labor hard,
and to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention.”

(Chapter Al-Insharah "The Expansion")

Righteousness

"It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces towards the east or the west; but it is righteousness -to believe in Allah and the Last Day. And the angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; To spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for the orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer , and give Zakat, to fulfill the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic.  Such are the people of Truth the God fearing.”

(Chapter 2: Verse 177)

Signs of God

“Among His signs is this that He created you from dust and then behold, ye are men scattered (far and wide)!

And among His signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may live in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are signs for those who reflect.

And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the variations in your languages and your colors: verily in that are signs for those who know.

And among His signs is the sleep that ye take by night and by day and the quest that ye make (for livelihood) out of His bounty: Verily in that are signs for those who hearken.

And among His signs , He shows you the lightning, by way of both of fear and of hope, and he sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead.  Verily in that are signs for those who are wise.

And among His signs is this, That heaven and earth stand by His command then when He calls you by a single call, from the earth , behold ye straight away come forth.

To Him belongs every being that is in the heavens or on earth all are devoutly obedient to Him.  It is he who begins the creation , and repeats it and for Him it is most easy.  To Him belong the loftiest similitude in the heavens and on earth; for He is exalted in might full of wisdom.

(Chapter 30 : Verses 20-27)

Abraham and the Prophets after him
(Peace and blessings of God be upon them all)

"We gave him (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob; all three well guided; and before him We guided Noah, and among his progeny, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses and Aaron: Thus do We reward those who do good;

And Zakariya and John, and Jesus and Elias: All in the ranks of the righteous:

And Ishmael and Elisha, and Jonas and Lot: and to all We gave favor above the nations:

To them and their fathers, and progeny and brethren: We chose them, and We guided them to a straight way.

This is the guidance of God: He gives that guidance to whom he pleases, of his servants if they were to join other gods with Him all that they did would be in vain for them.

These were the men to whom we gave the book and judgment and prophethood: if these (their descendants) reject them, Behold! We shall entrust their charge to a new people who reject them not.

Those were the prophets who received God's guidance. Follow the guidance they received..."

(Chapter 6: Verses 84-90)

Jesus and Mary
(Peace and blessings of God be upon them both)

And remember she who guarded her chastity (Mary) We breathed into her from Our spirit, We made her and her son (Jesus) a Sign for all people.

(Chapter 21: Verse 91)

Behold! The angels said: "O Mary! God has chosen you and purified you- Chosen you above the women of all nations...

(Chapter 3: Verse 42)

Behold!  The angels said: "O Mary! God gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name shall be Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and in the Hereafter and of those nearest to God. He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity and he shall be of the company of the righteous."

She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me?

He said: "Even so, God creates what he wills: when He has decreed a matter He merely says "Be" and it is!"

(Chapter 3: Verses 45-47)

And the similitude of Jesus in God's sight is as that of Adam, He created (Adam) from dust and said to him: "Be" and he was.

(Chapter 3: Verse 59)

Muhammed
(Peace and blessings of God be upon him)

O People of the Book (Jews and Christians)! Now has come to you,  making things clear to you, Our Messenger (Muhammed) after the break in (the series of) our messengers lest you should say: "There came to us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner" : but now has come to you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner , and God has power over all things.

(Chapter 5: Verse 19)

O Prophet (Muhammed)! Truly We have sent you as a Witness, a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner, and one who invites to God's (grace) by His leave, and as a lamp spreading light. Then give glad tidings to the Believers that they shall have from God a very great bounty.

(Chapter 5: Verse 21)

Moses
(Peace and blessings of God be upon him)

(God) said: "O Moses! I have chosen you above (other) men by the messages (I have given you) and the words I (have spoken to you) Take then (the revelation) which I give to you and be of those who give thanks.

And We ordained for him in the Tablets in all matters, admonition and explanation of all things, (and said): "Take and hold these with firmness and enjoin your people to hold fast to the best in the precepts..."

(Chapter 7: Verse 144)

Noah
(Peace and blessings of God be upon him)

We sent Noah to his people, He said: "O my people! Worship (the one) God! You have no other God but Him, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day!"

The leaders of the people said: "Ah! We see you are in evident error."

He said: "O my people! There is no error in me: on the contrary I am a messenger from The Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds!  I but convey to you the Message of my Lord. Sincere is my advice to you and I know from God something that you know not. Do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord, through a man of your own people, to warn you- so that you may be mindful of God and receive His mercy?"

But they rejected him, and We delivered him and those with him in the Ark: But we overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected Our signs they were indeed a blind people.

(Chapter 6: Verses 59-64).
